Working from the same place every day can help keep your peace of mind.

The environment is key. If you don't have a comfortable place to work, then it's harder to get work done. This is why some of us invest hundreds into ergonomic office chairs and desks that fit our needs. I have a very particular office setup at home. I have the desk that I love, my comfortable chair, the spot for my coffee, the right lighting, and slippers I can wear around the house. It's essential to have everything in place for me to do my best work. Sure, you can work under a lot of different circumstances. That's why laptops are great, you can take them anywhere you need them. But regularity and routine help most people. It's nice to keep some variables the same so you can keep up with other changes. 

That's why most office jobs offer their employees a desk that is their own. It's their space that they get to sit in every day, and they can decide what they'd like to do with it. If they want a plant, they can put one there. If they want photos of their loved ones, they can proudly display those. If they want their chair at a certain height, they can determine that. It's nice to have some amount of control over your working environment, even if a lot of the decisions are being made for you. It helps keep our day-to-day a little more sane.
